UPDATE: 13 Nov 2025, 9.45AM - 189 ROUND HAPPENING NOW!! 🤗

Last updated: 12 November 2025

The DHA stated they intend to running quarterly rounds for the 189. Recently they have confirmed they will be running one TOMORROW, 13 Nov. If they are quarterly, this will be the 2nd of a likely 4 rounds, so you don’t want to miss out.

What can I do now?

Ensure all your ducks are in a row. Double and triple check your EOI info is correct and the correct points are being claimed.

If you have everything you need, including skills assessment, but just haven’t submitted it yet, then submit one RIGHT NOW!

What happens if you get a 189 invitation tomorrow?

You will have 60 days to prepare and lodge the 189 visa application. An invite tomorrow means you’ll need to have it submitted by early January 2026. You’ll need to provide evidence for all the points you claim within that application.

Be mindful of when and where you lodged from. Bridging visas are for onshore applications so, if you’re going home (overseas) for Christmas then you might need to lodge before you go. Factor in potential bridging visas too.

PLUS don’t forget to budget…it’s an expensive time of year on the horizon, so you may have to contain yourself during these Black Friday sales! 🛍️

What happens if I don’t get invited?

Based on the DHA’s suggestions, we wouldn’t anticipate another 189 round until around Feb 2026 (only our best guess). If you meet the 190 criteria in one/some state/s then there may still be hope for an invitation from them.

If not, or if your time onshore is running dry quick, then look into back up options. The next few months will fly by and you don’t want to get caught short.

We’ll be keeping an eye on tomorrow’s round and will be back ASAP with updates. Good luck to everyone with an EOI lodged! MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOUR
