OFFICIAL 189 Invitation Round List – Occupations & Points
FY2025-2026 189, 190 and 491 Visa Invitation Update
Last updated: 3 September 2025
Since our last update, the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) have released the OFFICIAL LIST of the exact occupations and points for the 189 visa invitations issued in the 21 August 2025. This release gives us the clearest picture of where the cut offs sit across the range of occupations and what occupations are being targeted. The points listed against each occupation reflect the minimum score invited on that date. It is also important to note that these minimums don’t guarantee an invitation in future rounds at that same level.
Another point of interest is the size of this round, with this first round totalling 6887 invitations sent out. The 21 August 2025 invitations totalled approximately half the size of the first round last financial year.
The DHA stated in a media release the other day that they intend to keep migration planning levels the same as last year, suggesting the program will sit at the same level and settings as the 2024-2025 program.
This could indicate that we may see a few extra smaller rounds, like this one, or potentially one more MEGA round later in the year. This means it is imperative to get your EOI submitted and be confident you have the highest level of points possible – Book a chat with us to go through your points in detail!
We will continue to keep a close eye on the program and provide updates as soon as further invitation rounds are announced. The next updates will likely be the state governments releasing their plans for their respective 190 invitations.
