Jora Just Changed This One Thing—Here’s How It Might Disrupt Your Visa Sponsorship Plans

From 12 August 2024, Jora’s Basic ads will now only run for 7 days, and even with a paid upgrade, the maximum duration is 14 days.

For employer sponsors, particularly small businesses who need to run job ads for 28 days to meet visa requirements, this presents a significant challenge. It seems you can’t run a single ad for the full 28 days on Jora, even with the paid options.

To use Jora for labour market testing, you would need to run multiple overlapping ads, leading to extra admin and increased costs—far from the straightforward, free option it once was. It essentially takes it off the table as a viable platform to use for LMT purposes.

Jora is not the first platform to make changes like this. Free ads on CareerOne now run for a maximum of 21 days, with an option to run for longer if you upgrade to a paid option. Adzuna have also moved to a paid model and, of course, the OG Seek have always been a paid platform.

If you’re looking for free and simple options, alternatives like Workforce Australia and Indeed are still available.

Given these changes, it’s crucial to carefully plan your job postings to meet visa requirements without incurring unnecessary costs or administrative burdens. Getting LMT wrong can lead to refusal of sponsorship applications and if your employee’s visa is nearing expiry this will cause more troubles than just lost money.
