Subclass 189 Invitation Round Update
Next Round Confirmed:
4 JUNE 2026
Australia's next Subclass 189 Skilled Independent visa invitation round has been confirmed for 4 JUNE 2026. This will be the final round for this financial year, and with many state governments closed for the 190, this will be the last shot at an invitation for several months.
This will likely be a small round, issuing only the left over invitations from any not accepted or unsuccessful visa applications, from previous 189 invitation rounds which exhausted pretty much all invitations.
What Should You Do Before 4 June 2026?
Check your EOI is current – ensure your details, partner details, points claims, and occupation are up to date in SkillSelect
Verify your points – incorrect points claims can lead to visa refusal even after invitation
Get your documents ready – skills assessment, English test results, employment records
Seek legal advice – if you are close to a threshold, are unsure you’ve claimed your points right, or have any complexity in your profile, speak to a migration lawyer before the round
